Buying
Smart
By Pat Volchok
Costco offers a full range
of digital cameras from
leading manufacturers in
the warehouses and
online at costco.com.
Selecting a digital camera reminds me of
trying to pick the ideal chocolate from a
large assortment: Temptation is high,
choices are many, exterior shells hide inner
works, and confusion over what’s best rises
with each additional byte.
It occurred to me that instead of a long list
of technical features, most digital-camera users
would appreciate a professional listening to
their needs and handpicking a camera for them.
So I asked Costco’s digital camera buyers,
Chris Day and Richard Gerhardt, to make
recommendations for various camera users.
Here’s what they came up with. (If you’d
like more background on digital cameras, see
the “Costco Connectionguide to digital pho
tography” at.)
