■ How big is your group? If you have a
large family heading to a destination or to a
reunion of many family members, or if you’re
hosting friends and family and won’t have
enough room in your own car, you’ll want a
vehicle that can accommodate the entire
group. Another option is renting a couple of
smaller cars.
Avis Access. This service is for drivers and
passengers with disabilities. The program
offers cars with hand controls, panoramic mirrors, transfer boards and swivel seats. These
features are available at no additional cost.
Child safety. Picking up a car seat with the
rental car is easier for parents than lugging
one through the airport. A manager trained
in installing car seats is available at each
Avis location.
Avis Assist. This portable navigation system
can be used in or out of the vehicle. Program
in the address of where you want to go, and
downloaded text directions and voice prompts
will talk you through to your destination.
On-the-road entertainment. Many SUVs
provide ample room for passengers and ski
equipment, and come equipped with DVD
players at no additional cost. Hummer H3s
are available at most locations; in Phoenix
these Hummers feature 135 TV channels to
entertain passengers. Hundreds of radio
channels are available via XM satellite radio
in all premium and luxury cars.
Avis Preferred Service. This service for frequent travelers provides extra speed and convenience by allowing them to avoid lines and
go straight to the car. Enroll as a preferred
member and Avis will keep a car preference
and credit-card profile on file.
Big savings. Costco members receive up to
a 25 percent discount on Avis’ prices.

infants, an elderly parent or grandparent, or
someone with physical restrictions, you need
certain safety features and amenities. Before
