Adjustable fasteners
I’m impressed with the stretchable,
durable fasteners. They pull to the front to
a wide “landing” area, where they can be
fastened to provide just the right fit, which
is important for containment—especially at
night. Unlike some brands, which use sticky tape
on fasteners that sometimes end up going directly on
the baby’s skin, Kirkland Signature diapers use fasteners that can be securely repositioned several times.
And they continue to work even if smudged with
ointment or powder.
Ultra-thin absorbent core
Greg opens up a Kirkland Signature diaper and
points out the latest improvement: There is up to 25
percent less bulk between the legs than before. I marvel at the slim profile of the absorbent pad and learn
that this design provides a comfortable, trim fit while
maintaining great leakage protection.
Incorporated in the interior of this slimmer silhouette are single taller leak guards that work like a
gasket to help stop anything from escaping. Bottom
line: No more wet, stretched-out, lumpy diaper for
baby to lug around.
diapers soft and gentle for tender bottoms. They’re
available now on costco.com, and will be available in
the warehouses in September.
The other sizes remain the same: Medium Step
3 for 16- to 28-pound babies, Large Step 4 for babies
between 22 and 37 pounds, and Extra-Large Step 5 for
babies 27 pounds or more. For identification ease, each
size is decorated with fun, unique animal icons and
color-coded box graphics.

DIAPERS ARE a big part
of a baby’s life (as well as
parents’ household budget).
Here’s a look at diapers by
the numbers.
■ Babies weighing up to
15 pounds average 6. 6
changes per day, for 740
diapers used in 16 weeks.
A real value
Ask any parent: Running out of diapers is not fun.
This is why Costco raised all diaper counts per package to a 36- to 38-day supply, which is one of the
highest counts available for premium diapers. “Jumbo”
packs sold in retail outlets provide only a five- or six-day supply, and “mega” packs provide enough diapers
for up to 10 days. Remember to always consider count
when computing price.
■ At 22 to 37 pounds,
babies average 4. 9
changes per day, totaling
1,400 diapers used in
41 weeks.
■ The total number of
diapers typically used in
a 100-week diaper cycle
is 4,124 diapers.
