Keep those cards flowing! Send a get-well card every week until the
patient’s health improves. The weekly card will be something your friend
or family member looks forward to, and your wishes will be greatly
appreciated for years to come.
Create a community greeting-card campaign. If you know someone
who is really sick, ask friends and family to contribute a greeting card to your
get-well campaign. Decorate a gift box in colorful wrapping paper, then fill
the box with an outpouring of greeting cards. Accompany this big box of wishes
with a card that says, “Read one a day and get well soon!”
Celebrate half birthdays! Think of fun and festive ways to commemorate
special days by sending a greeting card on a child’s half birthday or your half
anniversary. Write half of a greeting, such as “Hap Birt”! The recipient is certain
to get the full picture and have a good laugh!
For no reason at all. Make up fun days, like Best Friend Day
or Most Lovable Daughter Day, and send a card declaring that
special person as the winner! Make it an annual occasion and
add some pizzazz.
Give a gift in a gift. Send a greeting card with movie tickets
inside, or even a special photograph of the two of you. Or how
about inserting a homemade coupon for baby-sitting? You’re
bound to get a thank-you card in return!
Create a unique signature. Be creative with your closing remarks
when signing a greeting card. Instead of writing “Love, so-and-so,”
wake up your words with phrases such as “Hugs and kisses to the
Mr. and Mrs.” or “I’ll shout it to the moon, Get well soon!”
Enclose words of inspiration. When giving a graduate a gift,
consider including a check along with a letter of recommendation
addressed “To Whom It May Concern,” recommending the young
man or woman for any job! Or tell someone special how much you
love them and why.
Add your stamp of approval. Select a box of gift cards and
add a postage stamp to each envelope. Select a variety of
colorful stamps or stamps with a particular theme for a
special touch that will transform this gift into a timesaving surprise.
Greeting cards are clearly one of the most thoughtful resources
you can instantly give, so stock up on them and always have some on
hand. And when in doubt of what to say or do, you can always insert a
bill that has a picture of Abraham Lincoln or Andrew Jackson on it—
guaranteed to satisfy even the most difficult to please! A
