NO. While a national primary would be
better than our current hodgepodge drawn-out process of selecting a leader, it would
have significant faults—most notably it would
favor moneyed candidates. A better option
might be to have four smaller states—one
from each geographic region—on the front
end serving the role that Iowa and New
Hampshire play now. These four “retail politics” states might change with each election
cycle as well

Debate goes on
In response to the February
Debate, “Should there be a
national primary?”
YES. I think a national primary is an excellent idea, long overdue. By the time we have
a primary here, things have already pretty
much been decided. Talk about feeling disenfranchised.

Concierge fans
We must tell your readers that if they
have any doubt at all as to the Costco Concierge Service ( The Costco Connection, December 2007), we are proof that this service is
a blessing.
Our RCA 52-inch television lamp gave
out, and after numerous attempts at contacting RCA to no avail, Costco Concierge stepped
in and not only found the part but had it
shipped within 24 hours. Unfortunately, there
were other parts that also needed replacing,
and, once again, the Concierge team swung
into action. It took a couple of months to make
all attempts at repairing the set, and when all
tries were exhausted, Costco replaced our TV
with a brand-new set.

NO. A single primary would scatter the candidates’ resources and only give them one chance.
Instead, there should be a series of regional
primaries with an approximately equal number of votes. Our present system gives power
to states with small numbers of votes, and the
media amplifies those results, which are a tiny
percentage of the overall votes, denying credible candidates an opportunity to compete.

YES. There should be a national primary. As
it stands right now, the interests that are best
served are the TV networks’. There is a fortune
spent on TV ads. Although a lot of people like
to watch arguments, I surely don’t and I doubt
that I am the only one who feels this way.
