1-Hour Photo lab. Instead, you simply bring your digital photos

High-quality photo prints:
Photo Center on costco.com
The convenience of ordering prints online for pickup in an
hour at the Costco warehouse near you is sweetened by tons
of other features. The Photo Center is where you can store and
new album
share your photos free, accessible from any computer with an favorites
Internet connection. It’s also where you can edit and organize friends’ albums
your photos, or create very personal gift items that incorporate
your photos—calendars, cards, mugs, posters, T-shirts and more.
Creating your account. It’s easy! Just go to costco.com. You can access the
Photo Center through the blue “Photo” link on the top of the page. The landing
page will prompt you to either sign up for a new account or log in to an existing
account. A “Get started” prompt will then help you to:
• Upload photos from your computer, organizing them into online albums.
It’s also possible to upload photos from a camera phone.
• Order prints for pickup in an hour at the Costco location you choose,
or have prints or gift items delivered by mail. (Delivery time varies by
destination and shipping options.)
• Share your albums with family and friends whom you invite via e-mail
to view your photos.
Arc hiving and storing your photos. Your computer isn’t the safest place
for long-term storage of your photos. Computer hard drives can crash, losing
everything. Regularly backing up photos and files to an external hard drive
provides some security.
Burning a CD or DVD can provide backup security
for photos and files, but typical CDs are not guaranteed
for long-term storage. Some lower-end, nonbranded
CDs can start to degrade after only two years.
Your digital images can be copied onto
archival-quality gold CDs with proven storage
longevity. The gold discs are cost-effective
storage alternatives, and a good practice is
to order duplicate gold CD copies, storing
one copy in a safe deposit box for guaranteed backup security.—David Wight
