WireLogic, part of The Quest Group, features
three brands: AudioQuest, ITC and WireLogic.
Leveraging our three decades of market-leading development, WireLogic’s products
represent true value. Our single-purchase
solutions help consumers easily optimize
their HDTV experience. WireLogic contends
you should not settle for results from cheap
cables or overpay for optimum performance.
WireLogic is one of just a few cable manufacturers that use a superior cold-weld crimp
to terminate HDMI cables, which is markedly
more reliable than the more conventional
soldering methodologies.
Setting up the sound system
Most HDTVs come with built-in speakers, and compared with the speakers found in many traditional picture-tube televisions, they can do a pretty
good job. However, you may be missing out on a major part of the HDTV
experience if you limit yourself to the two speakers in the television.
Most HDTV content comes with an audio signal in 5. 1 format. Where a
standard stereo signal has two channels—left and right—the 5. 1 format provides for five separate channels, plus a subwoofer. You get the front left and
right channels, plus a center channel that helps deliver movie dialogue with a
clarity that can be surprising. You also get left and right rear channels, which
help complete the surround-sound system (and let you know when something
creepy is trying to sneak up behind you in a scary movie).
The subwoofer adds the gut-shaking low-frequency sounds that make
all the difference in an action sequence or in delivering realistic background
noise in a scene. (You can now find systems with 6. 1 or 7. 1 channels that add
even more surround-sound speakers to the configuration.)
You can experience the full excitement of surround sound through a home
theater sound system. This is the next generation of the home stereo and includes
equipment such as an integrated DVD player and an AM/FM tuner.
Another feature that can be handy is wireless surround speakers. These
let you set up the rear left and right speakers without having to run wires to
them from the home theater box, which can greatly simplify installation (they
still require power). Home theater systems are available with a wide range of
features and corresponding prices.
