Credit-card processing with bling
Carol Amanda Wexler
owns a unique business called Borrowed
Bling, and she can’t
without a credit-card-processing program.
She started using
credit-card-processing service, offered
through Elavon, in
late 2003. It made
an immediate impact
on her bottom line:
About 75 percent of
her sales are credit-card transactions.

credit cards. At least 50 percent of my business is done online on my Web site, www.
borrowedbling.com,” Wexler tells The Connection. “A lot of my business comes from all
over the U.S., and it’s nice that a credit card is
a universal form of payment no matter where
my buyers reside or are ordering from.”
Using Costco’s program is “quick and
easy,” says Wexler. Transaction processing is
done automatically, and Elavon’s monthly
statements make it easy for her to keep track
of sales and ensure that all transactions were
processed and deposited correctly.
The program is great for her customers
“When I sell jewelry and accessories to
TV studios, they usually have a corporate
credit card that they like to put all of their
purchases on, so accepting credit cards makes
it very easy for them to order with me and pay
me,” she says.
Costco has worked with Elavon, one of
the country’s leading merchant-services companies, for 12 years. “They have a top priority
of customer service, and Elavon’s rates are
extremely competitive compared to other
services on the market,” says Bernie Deckys,
who oversees the program for Costco.
Other key features of the service include:
■ Businesses can use their existing
equipment, or opt to purchase or lease
■ There are no high-cost contracts.
(Contracts are for two years and cost
just $95 to cancel.)
■ All costs and fees are given upfront—
there are no hidden fees.
■ Customer service is available 24 hours
a day, seven days a week.
■ As a bonus, Executive Members pay
no application or monthly statement
