COMING THIS SUMMER, Costco’s online investing service through ShareBuilder will be launching a mobile application for BlackBerry and iPhone.

Regardless of which platform you use, the mobile experience will bring much convenience to the smartphone in your hand. Using it, you’ll be able to:

• Buy and sell stocks and ETFs, or place market, limit or stop-loss orders right from your phone

• Check for the latest market news and stock quotes

• Access ShareBuilder balances and positions anywhere you have a signal in the U.S.

• Follow your favorite stocks via easy-to-create watch lists

• Securely transfer funds to and from your ShareBuilder account and keep tabs on the status of those transfers

rate drops

CREDIT-CARD TRANSACTIONS have become more affordable for Costco members using the processing services provided by Elavon. The qualified rate—the rate for retail card-swiped transactions—was lowered by Elavon for Costco members to 1.48 percent plus 20 cents in the April interchange rate adjustment.

in the industry over the last few years, but Costco members continue to see increased savings with Elavon.

“Taking credit for less is what members expect and what we aim to deliver,” says Bernie Deckys, Costco Services manager.

Intuit tracks
small-business
hiring trends

INTUIT, COSTCO’S PAYROLL service provider, has launched its Small Business Employment Index to provide a unique view of small-business employment trends.

This monthly index offers statistically sound, near real-time data pulled from approximately 50,000 U.S. companies that use Intuit Online Payroll. The data points measured are small-business employment, hours worked and compensation; the index focuses on employment trends for companies with fewer than 20 employees. Those small businesses represent 87 percent of all U.S. companies and employ nearly 20 million people.

Vehicle Protection
Plans available
in two states

COSTCO MEMBERS in Oregon and Washington whose vehicle factory warranties are near expiration might want to check out the Vehicle Protection Plans now available in those two states.

The plans are designed to cover most vehicles up to 10 model-years old with current odometer mileage from 10,000 to 75,000 miles, even if the vehicle is outside the factory warranty. Various deductibles and terms are available offering protection up to 125,000

odometer miles. Most main components are covered, except for a short list of exclusions.

Plans include exclusive Costco member pricing, 24-hour roadside assistance, towing charges, car rental expense and travel coverage. Repair facilities are paid directly for covered repairs. Flexible interest-free payment plans are available. Restrictions apply.
