Clint Eastwood reflects
on a career in progress
By David Wight
CLINT EASTWOOD HAS forged an indelible mark on
the movie business as an actor, director, producer
and composer. From his eight-season run in
the TV series Rawhide, to a crossover
success in three Euro-made Westerns,
to his standout double Best Director
and Best Picture Oscar triumphs for
Unforgiven (1992) and Million Dollar
Baby (2004), his talent and range
have been impressive. And he’s
not finished.
He recently took time from
a Friday-afternoon work schedule
for a phone interview. The voice
on the line sounded 30 years
younger than his hoarse and bit-
ter 2008 Gran Torino character,
Walt Kowalski.
Clint Eastwood: As much as I
know about Costco, I didn’t know its
headquarters was in the Northwest.
Costco Connection: Didn’t you live in
Seattle at one time?
CE: Yes, I did. My parents moved to Seattle
while I was still in my last semester of high school.
