Sum-mer-ing up
SUMMER IS THE SEASON of action, adventure and romance. But just in case the weather or other circumstances are keeping you from pursuing those elements in your own life, you can add all of the above with July’s DVD picks. [* = also available in Blu-ray] The Bounty Hunter. Milo Boyd is a bounty hunter on assignment o catch a woman who skipped out on her bail. The woman is Nicole Hurley. Milo and Nicole were once married. At first, the thought of arresting his ex seems a dream come true for Milo, but he soon learns otherwise, when the couple ends up on a run for their lives. Gerard Butler is Milo and Jennifer Aniston is Nicole in this action/comedy/ romance.—Cody Yaple, assistant media buyer Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief*. Percy Jackson is, seemingly, a normal teenager, but he discovers he is the descendant of one of the legendary Greek gods and possesses godly powers. These come in handy when Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt. Along with two other teens descended from mythologi- cal beings, Percy must battle monsters and gods to retrieve it and save mankind.—CY White Collar: Season One. For my money, some of the best televi- sion is on the USA Network, which proclaims, “Characters welcome.” This is one of their best series. Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) is a charming young con man who escapes from prison with just a short ime left on his sentence. FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) quickly recaptures him, but the two make a deal for Caffrey to use his criminal expertise to catch other white-collar criminals and stay out of prison— maybe. Great cast chemistry, intelligent and witty scripts, and plenty of action make this a must-have.—CY

Clash of the Titans*. (Available at the end of the
month.) Monsters, mayhem and mythology! What
more could you want on a hot summer day or when a
seasonal storm is keeping you from enjoying one?
This reboot of the 1981 epic found a much bigger
audience, who found it far more satisfying than the
original. The story centers on an impending war
between gods and humans, with action and fiends
galore. Available in standard and Blu-ray formats.
