for your home
I THINK THE “ideal” bedroom is
one that evokes a calm, peaceful
feeling. After a long day your bedroom should be your sanctuary.
Soft colors such as blues, greens,
pink or cream; luxurious linens—
i.e., fluffy pillows (multiple sizes
and lots of them is what I like),
good-quality linens—and soft,
romantic lighting, not harsh overhead lights.

WHAT’S A “MUST-HAVE” for a
bedroom besides a great mattress?
Bedding that makes you feel as if
you’re sleeping at a five-star luxury
hotel. I feel the sheets are the most
important element of your bed.
Choose the “feel” you prefer based
on your preferences—smooth and
silky or crisp and tailored. I find
each client has a personal preference, so you should literally feel the
sheets before deciding.

What is your ideal bedroom?
BEDROOMS ARE OFTEN one of the last rooms to get decorating attention. After all,
who goes there but you and your family? According to several interior designers who are
Costco members, the master bedroom should be a retreat, a quiet oasis, away from the
hustle and bustle of family life. And with Costco’s help, it’s not that difficult—or expensive—to achieve, as these photos indicate.
The items pictured can be found at most Costco warehouses, at Special Events (see page
82) or online at Costco.com. Selection and colors may vary by location, and some items may
not be available until later this year (please note asterisk by those item descriptions). Of
course, there are also many more options not pictured that can help give your master suite
a look you’ll love.—Anita Thompson
