The recent article about seeking truth in
journalism gave a number of websites to
check facts but did not indicate the biases
some of these sites have.
The New York Times and Washington Post
are not unbiased. Politifact.com has biases but
to a lesser extent.
So it’s still reader beware on many websites.
The November 2012 issue of The Costco
Connection has been both very interesting
reading and a very useful resource for my
Social Media Communication class at Curry
College. I particularly found John McMa-nus’ article, “Won’t get fooled again,” of value with its pointers on verifying online news
and information (a very real caution)—now
shared with my students. Keep up the timely
NO. How about testing to qualify to vote?
Requiring a passing score to qualify to vote
may be the only rational way to assure that
voters have at least a minimal understanding
of basic issues. The answer isn’t to force people to vote; the answer is education and testing to make sure that those who vote know
what they’re voting for.
