THE UNITED STATES was built on the
hard work of everyday Americans. Much
of my childhood took place in my father’s
shop, where he produced quality tools
and designs for large manufacturing and
As my father’s son, I have a passion
for quality tools and feel the need to buy
onshore before I look elsewhere. At
Costco, we work hard to get “Made in the
USA” items to market, and you’ll be
happy to find the following American-made hardware this month:
; Ames True Temper wheelbarrow
; Harper hand trucks
; Case knives
These companies have all been
around for anywhere from more than
seven decades to several centuries.
Harper, the youngest of the companies,
was established in 1940, while Ames,
the oldest, started in 1774. These
companies have stood the test of time
for a reason. Their commitment to
manufacturing lasting products, honoring
warranties and taking care of their cus-
tomers has translated to loyal consumers
across generations. I still have some of my
dad’s original American-made wrenches.
If and when possible, our buying
teams also push hard to find and offer
items that are assembled in the U.S.
Some examples include the Honeywell
17 KW home standby generator (left) by
Generac, the TTI Honda powered generators (above) and the Simpson gas-pow-ered pressure washers (right), which
you’ll find amongst our selection.
