NO. Anyone who pays to have an animal on
the airline deserves to have it with them.
YES. Too many people are registering their
pets as emotional support animals [ESA]. I
spoke to an older woman with a Chihuahua
(bearing the ESA label) who bragged that she
was allowed to carry the animal on a commercial flight in the cabin with no charge.
Now consider a couple to whom my
son and daughter-in-law rented a house.
Their emotional support animal is a
6-month-old Great Dane. Imagine that in

In response to the June Debate,
“Should community drinking
water be fluoridated?”
Note: The Connection received nearly 11,000
responses—negative and positive—on this subject by email, phone and post. Respondents
expressed opinions on the subject of fluoridation
and the expertise of the essayists and, for the
most part, appreciation for the chance to discuss
this subject in a public forum.
Overwhelmingly, support for fluoridation
came from dentists, orthodontists and other
health professionals, as well as oral-health coalitions from 37 states across the United States.
Is Hipp kind to the animals?
I recently read the cover story for July’s
issue of The Costco Connection regarding
your nail polish [“Healthy hands”]. I was
delighted to see the polish featured since I had
just looked over the packaged product the
week before at Costco. Unfortunately, I did
not see anything on the packaging stating the
polish was animal-cruelty-free; no statement
or logo. As a result, I put the product back on
the shelf and continued further research at
home, finding several products that met my
needs, which I purchased.
I was hoping that I had just missed this
important vital information and looked for it
in the article, but to no avail. If I am wrong and
your products do not test on animals, please
notify me of such and ask that Costco print an
addendum in their August Costco Connection
magazine so that I and many others can consider purchasing your polish.

Costco Optical goes HD
I enjoyed reading the article by Laura Bode
in the July 2014 Costco Connection [“Seeing in

Having purchased several pairs of glasses
