ADVERTISING AND PRODUCTS
All ads indicate whether a product is available
in the warehouse, on Costco.com or both.
Products are scheduled to be available during
The Connection’s month of publication and
are noted as in warehouse “early in month”
(1st to 10th), “mid-month” (11th to 21st) or
“late in month” (22nd to 31st). Shop early in
the month for the best selection of seasonal
items. Costco.com carries many of the products available at the warehouses, and offers
thousands of additional items, including line
extensions and supplemental products. Prices
are usually not listed because they have not
been finalized at the time of printing and may
vary from one part of the country to another
due to shipping costs. We hope members
know to check Costco first when comparison
shopping. To keep prices low, Costco does not
offer a telephone service allowing members to
call in for prices or product availability.

Hollywood in Hawaii
Your Costco Connection May 2016 article, “Reel to Reel, Hollywood and the
Hawaiian Islands,” le; out a very important
film: The Devil at 4 O’Clock (1961). The
main stars were Spencer Tracy and Frank
Sinatra. A signi;cant portion of the movie
was ;lmed in Lahaina on the island of Maui.
Fifty-five years later this movie remains
popular and is frequently requested by
patrons at the Lahaina Public Library. And
this ;lm still holds up. It’s worth a watch.

Children’s Miracle Network
;anks to Costco for helping kids survive.
[“Funding miracles” May 2016]. Every kid
deserves a chance at life. Another way to save
children is to ask your representatives and
senators to pass the Reach Every Mother and
Child Act, aimed at ending the millions of pre-ventable deaths of mothers and children each
year in our world.
Your April article “How to change your
car’s oil,” was critical of recycled oil. In fact,
motor oil that has been properly recycled
(through re-refining) is great for your car, and
better for the environment than oil made from
virgin crude. Re-refined oil is being used by
state and federal governments (including the
largest fleet in the country, the U.S. Postal
Service). Mercedes Benz uses it as factory fill
for new cars, and major U.S. auto manufacturers also endorse its use. Environmental studies
have shown that re-refining oil reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin oil,
and also reduces other forms of air pollution,
which is one reason that the U.S. EPA considers this the preferred option.
