¼ cup finely diced white onion
2 tablespoons finely diced bell pepper
6 tablespoons diced mushroom caps
4 teaspoons steak sauce, divided
1 pound lean ground beef, or vegetarian substitute
2 ripe California avocados, 1 mashed and 1 sliced
4 tablespoons light ranch dressing
4 whole wheat buns, toasted
8 leaves lettuce
4 slices large beefsteak tomato
In a large bowl, combine onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, 2 teaspoons steak sauce and ground beef until
thoroughly mixed. Divide mixture into four equal
portions and shape into patties. On a large grill or in
a sauce pan, over medium-low heat, grill patties for
about 4 minutes. Flip and grill 4 minutes more or until
meat is thoroughly cooked.
Combine mashed avocado with ranch dressing and
spread on each bun bottom. Add burger patty. Drizzle
each with remaining steak sauce. Top with lettuce,
tomato, sliced avocado and bun top. Makes 4 servings.
