COSTCO MEMBERS DANA and James Melton of
Yucca Valley, California, weren’t satisfied with the
water filtration on their refrigerator: The price of
the replacement filter kept going up and the water
dispensed too slowly. They looked into a home
water filtration system for the entire house, but that
would have cost more than they wanted to spend.
Then one day while shopping at Costco they sampled bottled water offered by Costco’s delivery services and signed up.
“We are pleased with our Sparkletts water unit,”
Dana says. “It is convenient and dispenses the hot
and cold water quickly. Also, our delivery man is reli-
able and always has a great attitude.”
Based in Atlanta, DS Services is a leading
direct-to-consumers services provider for Costco,
selling bottled drinking water products under vari-
ous regional brand names, including Alhambra,
Belmont Springs, Crystal Springs, Deep Rock,
Hinckley Springs, Kentwood Springs, Mount
Olympus, Sierra Springs and Sparkletts.
The Meltons are very impressed with their water
delivery service, which includes a reminder phone
call for delivery dates, and they feel they receive the
best service from their personable route sales representative, David Harrigan of Sparkletts, who delivers
purified bottled water to them every two weeks.
“David gets a good report; he’s very considerate
and service-oriented,” Dana says.
The Meltons were also pleased with the features
on the water dispenser, which they rent at a discounted Executive member rate of $1 per four-week
period. The unique bottom-load design of the dispenser requires no lifting of bottles, so it’s easy to fill,
and it dispenses both hot and cold water. Its modern
design complements any décor, and it has a night-light to guide users to the faucet spouts, a removable
drip tray for easy cleaning and a built-in safety lock
for hot water.
“It’s a great decision. It’s very contemporary and
it hides the bottle,” Dana says. “We like the fact the
water is hot enough so I don’t have to use a separate
container to heat [it]. It’s very convenient.” C
