FROM AMERIPRISE AUTO
& HOME INSURANCE
Be cautious while
AMERIPRISE AUTO & Home Insurance,
a Costco Services provider, wants to alert
you to the fact that road construction zones
are not just a pain in the neck traffic-wise.
Orange construction barrels are more than
a sign that roadwork is ahead. Because construction zone car accidents injure thousands each year, the barrels should also
remind you that you’re entering an accident-prone area.
During the busy summer and fall construction seasons, these tips from the
Federal Highway Administration can help
you avoid accidents in construction zones.
• Avoid using your phone or eating.
• Keep your headlights on.
• Watch for brake lights ahead; at 50
mph, you’ll need 300 feet to stop on
dry pavement, 400 feet on wet roads
and 1,250 feet when it’s icy.
• Merge well ahead of lane closures.
• Don’t tailgate.
• Obey the posted speed limit.
• Follow flaggers’ instructions.
• Be patient and expect the unexpected.
Be aware that, in 33 states, fines double
for speeding in construction zones.
And be sure your insurance has you
covered. If you are looking for a new insurance provider, check out Ameriprise Auto
& Home Insurance for a free quote. Go to
