Campbell’s Savory Petite Meat Loaf Sandwiches
At first glance, meat loaf as a tea sandwich topping might
not seem like a fit, but it’s always fun to throw in an
unexpected twist at any party, especially a party that can
teeter precariously on the edge of being stuffy.
3. Bake 30 minutes. Pour off fat.
4. Spoon remaining soup over meat loaf. Bake 30 minutes
longer, or until done. Remove from pan, drain and refrigerate overnight.
1 103/4-ounce can Campbell’s Tomato Soup
11/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Pepperidge Farm Sliced White Bread
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Thin slices of tomato
5. On the day of the party, remove crusts from bread, cut
in heart shapes using a cookie-cutter and lightly smear with
mayonnaise. Slice meat loaf as thin as possible, cut into
hearts using a cookie-cutter one size smaller than the one
used for the bread, and place on top of the mayonnaise.
Top with a thin slice of tomato. Serve immediately.
Makes 16-20 sandwiches.
11. On the day before the party, preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Mix thoroughly 1/2 cup soup, ground beef, bread crumbs,
onion, egg, Worcestershire and pepper. Shape firmly into an
8-by-4-inch loaf in a baking pan.
Campbell’s Tomato Soup Suggestions
Campbell’s Tomato Soup is good anytime. If you are feeling
mellow and want a smooth, creamy texture, use milk. If your
appetite calls for a more robust tomato flavor, just add water.
Want something zesty? Mix in salsa and sprinkle cheese on top,
or simply add croutons or a pat of butter—whatever your taste
buds desire.
