Microwave Caramels
A Costco member who lives in Connell, Washington,
makes the best quick, easy and delicious caramels we’ve
encountered. She writes, “My son loves these candies and
requests them for every special occasion.”
1 cup butter – no substitutes
21/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Melt butter in a large microwave-safe bowl.
2. Add brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk and
corn syrup. Stir well. Microwave on high 17-21 minutes,
stirring every 3 minutes.
3. Add vanilla, mix well, and pour into buttered
9-by-13-inch pan. Cool until set. Cut into squares.
Wrap in plastic or waxed paper. Makes 8-10 dozen
1-inch caramels.

Ghirardelli Tuxedo Brownies
1 20-ounce package Ghirardelli Brownie Mix
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
2/3 cup sugar
24 whole cloves
4 short cinnamon sticks Preheat oven to 325°F. Blend mix, water, oil and 1 egg until
