Hot Spiced Cider
As nights turn chilly, warm
cider and just-out-of-the-
oven sweet bread create
a wonderful welcome for
your guests.
Tree Top Mom’s Apple Sauce Bread
This recipe has been in the Tree Top family for at
least three generations.
2/3 cup shortening
22 cups sugar
3 cups Tree Top Original Apple Sauce*
4 cups flour
64 ounces ( 8 cups) Tree Top
Apple Cider or Juice*
22 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
8 cinnamon sticks
(optional)
1. Combine first 4
ingredients in a large
pot. Bring to a boil.
Let simmer 15 minutes.
2. Strain and serve.
Add cinnamon stick to
each mug before serving.
Makes 8 servings.

22 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 cup raisins or cut-up prunes
1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
1 cup candied fruit, if desired
11. Preheat oven to 350°F.
22. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add apple sauce.
3. Combine all dry ingredients in a separate bowl and then
add to the apple-sauce mixture. Mix until moistened.
4. Stir in fruit and nuts.
5. Put in 2 well-greased 9-by-5-inch bread pans, filling
2/3 full. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick
inserted in the center comes out clean. Makes 2 loaves.

Peter Piper, adds a zing to any occasion.
Fletchers Devils on Horseback
The name alone is enough to give any party a little jump start.
Wrap 1/2 strip of Fletchers
8-10 Dean large dill pickles, (raw) bacon* around a bay
sliced in 1/4-inch-thick rounds* scallop (raw). Secure with a
