Court Rules
Have a little fun by read-inga list of courtly dinner
rules to all attendees:
• No one is allowed to sit
if the King is standing.
• All must wait to eat
until the King takes his
first bite.
• The King is allowed to
lick his fingers.
• If the King drops
his napkin, he gets
a clean one.
• The King gets the first
choice of seconds.
• The King is offered the
first piece of dessert.
• After gifts, all must rise
and bow until the King
leaves the room. (No
dishes for Dad tonight.)
Entertainment
• Unbeknownst to the
King, pre-select one of
his favorite words such
as “good” or “wow.”
Whenever he says that
word, everyone must
stand up.
• The King requests that
each guest do one thing
for his royal pleasure
while he’s eating, such
as sing a song, create
a poem or tell a story.
Stemilt Growers Spicy Sweet and Sour
Fresh Cherry Sauce
Cherries add color, flavor and intriguing aromas to
otherwise ordinary dishes. This lovely summer sauce
complements grilled chicken.
6 cups pitted Stemilt fresh sweet cherries
1 cup each water and dry white wine
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup each honey and lemon juice
1 large clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon salt

With its tubular shape, penne
is perfect for thicker sauces,
and the short pieces are easy
for children to manage.
11 pound Barilla Penne Pasta*
11 tablespoon olive oil
11 each red, green and yellow
bell pepper, cored, seeded
and cut into strips
11 26-ounce jar Barilla
Marinara Pasta Sauce*
Combine all ingredients in heavy saucepan; bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes, or until
mixture thickens; stir frequently. Makes about 3 cups.
Costco Tip: This sauce is also good with fish or pork.

Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.
Meanwhile, add olive oil to large skillet. Sauté peppers
over medium heat 1 minute. Reduce heat; stir in pasta
sauce. Heat 5 minutes. Pour sauce over pasta. Sprinkle
with Parmesan cheese. Makes 6-8 servings.

Roasted Asparagus
Roasting creates a caramelized
crust on vegetables that is
truly magical.
1-11/2 pounds Lee Brands
asparagus, trimmed*
1/2 pound mushrooms,
thickly sliced
1/2 large red onion, sliced
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Heat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil. Gently
toss all ingredients in a large bowl until coated with oil.
Spread evenly on baking sheet. Roast 20-25 minutes, stirring
once, until veggies are slightly charred and tender. Makes
6 servings.
Costco Tip: The mushrooms will exude liquid as they roast,
but it will evaporate as they continue to cook.
