Region
Carneros is located in the southern portion of
Sonoma and Napa valleys in California. San Pablo
Bay, just south of Carneros, creates an ideally cool
climate for growing Pinot Noir. This region has a
long growing season, allowing grapes to thicken,
which in turn increases flavor and color, and lifts the
acidity levels. The unique climate of the Carneros
AVA makes this region truly remarkable.
Food and wine pairing
The 2010 Kirkland Signature Carneros Pinot
Noir pairs excellently with veal chops or mushroom
risotto. It is also a great choice with fresh grilled
salmon and pasta, or even simple chicken soup.
2010 Kirkland Signature Columbia Valley Red Wine
Region
The Columbia Valley AVA is the largest wine
region in Washington state, and comprises more than
40,000 acres devoted to vineyards. The region’s climate traits include cold winters and a long, dry growing season with low humidity. The predominating
weather pattern features warm days and cool nights,
which helps to retain balance between the acid and
sugar levels in the grapes. This provides Washington
wines their characteristic flavor balance.
Food and wine pairing
The overall structure of the 2010 Kirkland
Signature Columbia Valley red wine makes it an
excellent partner for roasted chicken, grilled meat
with savory sauces—great for BBQ—and robust
cheese.
