New arrivals: July 2011
Kirkland Signature 2010 Marlborough
Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc
Vineyards and vintage
Marlborough is New Zealand’s largest and most
famous winegrowing area, having won worldwide
recognition as the top region for producing clean,
unoaked Sauvignon Blanc.
The Wairau and the Awatere river valleys provide
the ideal climate for the growth of Sauvignon Blanc
grapes, with cool evenings to counter the warm,
sunny days. The climate combines with well-drained
alluvial loam-and-gravel subsoil to provide a perfect
setting for Sauvignon Blanc grape production.
The Ti Point estate vineyard in Marlborough
consists of 148 acres of plantings on the sunny
southern side of the Wairau Valley. This is a classic
site with stones and overlying silts. The north-facing
aspect captures the sun’s heat during the crucial rip-
ening period.
Pairing notes
Unlike heavily oaked wines that typically add a
metallic taste to light fish dishes, the unoaked
Kirkland Signature Marlborough Ti Point Sauvignon
Blanc wine pairs especially well with seafood, poultry and pork. It delivers a perfect balance of ripe
fruit and medium-plus acidity that also cuts through
the rich notes of pork loin and pork ribs. Enjoy!
