Great ideas for
photos, video
TODAY’S CAMCORDERS make it easier
than ever to shoot both video and still photos.
But what do you do with the video and the
photos after you’ve taken them?
One fun project is to combine both in a
homemade documentary. I just did this for a
holiday video to send on a CD to a son overseas. Here’s how it’s done.
Choosing the right software. If you have
a computer with Microsoft Windows XP or
certain versions of Vista, you already have a
good basic tool in your hands: Windows
Movie Maker. Later-model Macs come with
iMovie. Both are very easy to use and can do

The latest in iPods
WHAT’S NEW IN the never-dull iPod world
this year? The answer: lots of new features and
upgrades in all models.
Nanos are a little skinnier, taller and more
colorful than before. But the most exciting
change is that, just as with the iPod touch and
iPhone, content on the nano’s 2-inch display
can be viewed in both portrait and landscape
modes, thanks to a new accelerometer that
senses the device’s orientation. Turn the nano
horizontally and it automatically switches to
Cover View mode. Shake the nano and it goes
to Shuffle mode.
Another cool addition is Genius, a tool
that automatically creates playlists based on
the tunes you play. Also noteworthy is that the
new nanos have twice the capacity ( 8 GB and
16 GB) for the same price as last year.
The iPod touch has been given a new
contoured, slimmer design and a big injection
