FROM THE MOMENT kids outgrow training
wheels, they seem to be looking ahead to
their next set of wheels. But how do you
know when to make a transition—and to
what kind of vehicle?
Costco member Gary LaPlante, owner of
Anza, California–based MotoVentures, says
that regardless of when kids or adults learn
to ride a motorbike, it’s important that all riders get proper training. He adds that the best
place for kids to learn is on a dirt road, not
the street. Along with safety, LaPlante
stresses that one of the great things about
riding motorbikes and motorcycles is that it’s

stove, and make sure your tree isn’t blocking
any doorways or exits.
; Do not put real flame candles on or near
your Christmas tree. If you have older lights that
have been in storage, make sure you examine
the wiring and bulb sockets before use.
; Try not to keep your Christmas tree lights
on longer than necessary, and turn them off
before you go to bed.
; Make sure not to plug too many lights
into one outlet, and use a surge protector for
your light strands.
