■ INFORMEDdebate
IN MoST AreAS of life, there is little debate that Benjamin Franklin’s
famous proverb “Honesty is the best policy” is a good rule to follow.
More controversial is whether it’s always best to be totally truthful in
personal and work relationships. Some insist that it’s the foundation
of a good relationship—that anything less than 100 percent honesty
is unfair to the other person. others argue that holding back some
truths or dressing them up or down a bit can avoid hurting the other
person’s feelings and keep things running smoothly in the workplace.
What do you think?
Is honesty always
the best policy?
