DIALOGUEletters
In response to the June
Debate,“Is the Ameri-
can dream of home
ownership still alive?”
NO. I know people who are still just walking
away. A co-worker [would] like to hang on to
his home, but there’s no assistance for him.
He’s cut back all he can. He’s making plans to
just walk away from his home.

YES. We own a home that has gained
$100,000 of equity in less than two years!

Kirkland Signature Pesto
Kirkland Signature™ Basil Pesto is one of
my favorite products, and I’m glad to read that
you’ve made it even better [“Pesto, change-o,”
June 2015]. Here’s a use that you didn’t mention: Spread a layer of pesto on top of fresh fish
in a baking dish, arrange some thinly sliced
tomatoes on top, and bake at 350 F for about 30
minutes. It’s easy and delicious for every day,
and makes a beautiful dish for company as well.

Advertising and products
in The Connection
• All ads indicate whether a product
is available in the warehouse, on
Costco.com or both.
• Products are scheduled to be available
during The Connection’s month of
publication and are noted as in warehouse “early in month” (1st to 10th),
“mid-month” (11th to 21st) or “late in
month” (22nd to 31st).
• Shop early in the month for the best
selection of seasonal items.
• Costco.com carries many of the
products available at the warehouses,
and offers thousands of additional
items, including line extensions and
supplemental products.
• Prices are usually not listed because
they have not been ;nalized at the
time of printing and may vary from
one part of the country to another due
to shipping costs. We hope members
know to check Costco ;rst when
comparison shopping.
• To keep prices low, Costco does not
offer a telephone service allowing
members to call in for prices or
product availability.

TIP: Regardless
of where you buy
your gasoline, a
slow nozzle ;ow
rate probably
means the
dispenser fuel
;lter is clogged. A
dirty ;lter not only
increases the time
you spend ;lling
up, but it also may allow contaminants
to pass through to your vehicle tank.
At Costco our gas station attendants
pay close attention to the nozzle ;ow
rates. You may have seen one of our
attendants, stopwatch in hand, taking a
nozzle ;ow timing during your transaction.
We change the ;lters frequently, so you
can be on your way quickly with only
fresh, clean, quality fuel.
The federal government limits
gasoline nozzle ;ow rates to 10
gallons per minute. Costco aims to
be as close to that limit as possible,
without exceeding it at any time. Our
underground fuel pumps have variable
output, which maintains a brisk fuel ;ow
even when the station is very busy.
The ;lters we use capture dirt and
sediment as small as 10 microns in
diameter. For comparison, a human hair
is about 70 microns thick. We also ;lter
for water and ethanol/water mixtures,
which is called phase separation.
Our underground storage tanks are
monitored continuously for water, and
we physically sample each tank weekly
to ensure our fuel is clean and bright.
Costco’s trained and capable fuel
attendants keep things clean, inside
and out!
