New lower rates
start in 2016
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Just when you
thought it might be tougher to achieve that
New Year’s resolution of cutting costs,
Elavon, Costco’s payment processing service provider, is offering a helping hand.
The old rate of 1. 38 percent plus 19
cents per swiped or dipped qualified transaction will be replaced beginning January 1,
2016, with a new rate of 1. 22 percent plus 12
cents for retail accounts. That can add up to
significant savings for businesses. Existing
customers automatically receive the new
rates with no action required. New rates will
be reflected in your February statement.

Getting covered during
open enrollment time
UNDER HEALTH-CARE reform, annual
enrollment, or open enrollment, is the
time period each year when people who
need health insurance can sign up for
an individual insurance plan. During
this time, anyone who wants to purchase health insurance has the opportunity to do so despite circumstances
such as health or age. January marks
the end of the enrollment period, so
here are some important dates to
remember if you plan to enroll.
January 1, 2016: 2016 coverage
starts for those who enrolled or changed
plans by December 15.
January 15, 2016: Last day to enroll
in or change plans for new coverage to
start February 1, 2016.
January 31, 2016: 2016 open
enrollment ends. Enrollments or changes between January 16 and January 31
take effect March 1, 2016.
