Born to rename
I read Tim Talevich’s article about Bruce
Springsteen [“Born to run,” October 2016]. As
someone who has known Springsteen since 1969, I
feel compelled to correct an error regarding his
band chronology. A;er the Castiles, Springsteen
formed a three-piece band called Earth. Shortly
a;er this, the band became Child. It was a;er this
that he formed Steel Mill. ;e band went through
more transformations as it became Dr. Zoom and
the Sonic Boom, and then the Bruce Springsteen
Band, before becoming the E Street Band.

Sounds of silence
I was reading your “Sound advice” article [Tech
Connection, October 2016], and when I came to
this: “you can stream your tunes, wirelessly, to a
nearby compatible speaker in your home, on a
porch or in the backyard,” I knew that I needed to
write to you.
Nowhere in the article did it caution that with
the new technology people need to exercise good
judgment and common sense when using this
equipment. You will get much better sound, but you
need to remember that your neighbor might not
enjoy the same music and/or the level of sound that
you enjoy. ;is is especially true if you use your
equipment on your porch or patio, or with your
windows open. Enjoy your wonderful new sound
equipment, but remember to be kind to your neigh-
bors. ;at is truly “sound advice.”

We appreciated the article in the September
issue of ;e Costco Connection on choosing a home
inspector (“Inspection detection”). Choosing a
quali;ed inspector is one of the most important

not mention the home inspector trade association—

CORRECTION
The October Debate described Textalyzer legislation
as allowing police to determine whether phones
were illicitly used while drivers operated their
vehicles. The legislation actually specifies that the
Textalyzer would be used only at crashes.
