I have lost almost ;; pounds! Getting
healthier every day. I also have gotten
[better] mentally and spiritually as well.
This has been the year of taking back me.
—Tanya Yeates Rollins
To eat a good breakfast. My Costco favorites: yogurt, chia seeds, Quaker granola—a
marvelous combination with a bit of fruit
added to the mix. Yum!—Pat Solstad
To be a better person than [I was] the
previous year.—Hitesh Shah
A few years ago, I decided to eat more
fish and reduce my intake of red meat. It
wasn’t easy at first … but I succeeded. Our
red meat consumption has been cut in
half, if not more.—John Spijkers
To travel more and not worry about the
little things. Life is short, so live each day
as if it were your last. :)

Tips to make your
resolutions work
Has your resolution resolve
dissolved? Here are some
practical tips to succeed from
Tim Pychyl ( procrastination.ca),
associate professor of
psychology at Carleton
University in Ottawa.
1. Keep your action items small
and concrete. Our brains are
biased to see concrete tasks as
urgent, due today.
2. Take that next small step.
Step up on that exercise
machine. Even a little progress
fuels well-being and motivation.
3. Outsource your willpower.
Remove temptations from the
house. Ask a friend or family
member to encourage you and
keep you accountable.
4. Self-change is a process. It’s
usually two steps forward, one
step back. Some days won’t go
well. Expect that and forgive
yourself for not being perfect.
Self-compassion is key to
transforming avoidance into
a willingness to try again.
